ISUZU RESTRUCTURES HEAVY-DUTY TRUCK PRODUCTION IN JAPAN

In line with this strategy, ISUZU MOTORS LIMITED has announced a reorganization of its domestic production structure. The primary shift involves transferring the production of heavy-duty trucks from its flagship Fujisawa Plant to the Ageo Plant of UD Trucks Corporation, a member of the ISUZU Group.

This transition serves as a vital logistical milestone for the 2028 launch of a new common platform for medium- and heavy-duty trucks. This platform is being co-developed by ISUZU and UD Trucks, leveraging advanced technologies from the Volvo Group.

Ageo Plant (UD Trucks) will become the flagship facility for heavy-duty trucks, with an estimated annual production capacity of 25,000 units serving Japan and the broader Asian market. Fujisawa Plant (ISUZU) will be consolidated as the primary manufacturing hub for light- and medium-duty trucks.

To facilitate this restructuring, ISUZU will invest approximately 40 billion yen (USD 265 million). These funds are earmarked for modernizing the Ageo facility, which includes the construction of a new, state-of-the-art paint shop.

Guided by the corporate philosophy “Moving the World – for You”, ISUZU aims not only to enhance competitiveness but also to build a robust and sustainable supply chain. By optimizing industrial resources, the brand is positioning itself to lead the next generation of global logistics and social infrastructure. The production transfer process is scheduled to commence in June 2026.
